The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc. , founded in 1894, is an
international, non-profit orginzation of 55,000 members that influence the direction of heating, ventilating, air
conditioning, and refrigeration (HVCC&R) technology be creating industry standards and recommended
procedures and guidelines, developing research, and writing technical information.

ASHRAE's areas of expertise include energy efficiency, indoor air quality, codes and standards, and guidance
for a safe environment during extrodinary incidents. It's sole objective is to advance through research, standards
writing, and continuing education the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and
refrigeration to serve the evolving needs of the public.
