Jay Martin, P.E. is a senior mechanical engineer at Brandt Engineering, specializing in district energy system analysis and design. Mr. Martin has performed numerous studies focused on utility planning and plant optimization with a focus on long-term economic benefit to the client. His clients have included many major universities, airports, and other district energy providers. Mr. Martin earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Texas Christian University. He is a Certified Energy Manager and a LEED Accredited Professional. In addition to his ASHRAE involvement he is also a Senior Member of the North Texas AEE chapter.

As Project Manager and Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, Mr. Bost has provided complete HVAC, Plumbing and Medical Gas designs for new or renovations to existing facilities. He has led the mechanical and plumbing design of educational facilities (lower & higher ed), medical facilities, churches, courthouses, YMCA’s and industrial, commercial, and retail facilities. He is currently the lead mechanical design engineer working with the Architect of Record on the Scharbauer Hall – Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, which is being designed to achieve a LEED Silver rating. Mr. Bost performs site investigations to confirm the existing project conditions and to verify that the project is built per the Contract Documents. Mr. Bost is also skilled in the REVIT 3D Modeling System.

Consulting-Specifying Engineer magazine honored Richard Watters as one of the recipients of its 40 Under 40 award given to 40 building industry engineers under the age of 40 who stand out in their academic, professional, personal, and community achievements.
As an Associate and Mechanical Engineer for the Fort Worth office of Baird, Hampton & Brown, Inc. (BHB), Richard successfully manages the firm’s multiple long-term mechanical engineering projects for medical facilities, commercial, retail, and municipal buildings. In addition to leading the mechanical engineering portion of the Architectural Exam Review Course at the University of Texas at Arlington last year, he supported a capstone graduate project at Texas A&M University for a construction science class, as well as guest lecturing.
Richard is proud to be a founding board member of the Paul Schulte Foundation, a non-profit organization whose goal is to empower, inspire and facilitate individuals with disabilities and to assist in providing programs that provide leadership, education and growth opportunities through sports and other activities.
He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Daniel C. Merkel, M.B.A., E.I.T. Is currently a VFD Sales Specialist for Texas Air Systems, supporting Fort Worth, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.  Previous work included specializing in control(s) and systems and solutions integration. Mr. Merkel has also worked in the printing industry developing solutions in the industrial processes. Mr. Merkel has a Masters of Business Administration from Texas Christian University and a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from Marquette University. Mr. Merkel is also involved in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

David James is our immediate past President of the Chapter. He is Vice President of Harold James, Inc. and has worked in the HVAC service industry for more than 30 years. David’s father, Harold served our Chapter as our 23rd President, making the James’ the first family of Fort Worth ASHRAE. David currently serves as Research Promotion Chairman in addition to his role as Governor.

W.O. Kelly served as our Chapter’s 20th President during the 1975-1976 campaign. W.O. has served the Chapter in many ways over the years, most recently as Special Events Chairman prior to becoming a Governor again this year. W.O. is a fightin Texas Aggie, class of ‘59.

Cody W. Pace, P.E. has served the Fort Worth Chapter for almost ten years in various positions. In addition to his duties of the student activities chair, Mr. Pace has served as Treasurer, Secretary, President-Elect and President. Mr. Pace served as the chapter’s President during the 2003-2004 chapter year.
Mr. Pace is currently a mechanical engineer at Baird, Hampton & Brown, Inc. where he is responsible for HVAC and plumbing designs of various commercial, retail, educational and municipal projects. He is currently the lead mechanical engineer designing HVAC and plumbing for a municipal courthouse building seeking LEED Silver certification. Mr. Pace is also a former member of the Construction and Fire Prevention Board of Appeals for the City of Fort Worth.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas.
