Student Activities

Student Members are sponsored by full-grade Members or Associate Members. The student must be studying or have an interest in an HVAC&R industry-related field. A student eligible for ASHRAE student membership is a person matriculated in an approved course of study in a university, college, junior college, or technical institute, who is being educated in the arts and sciences covered by the Society’s objectives.

Student Branches Benefits of Student Membership

The University of Texas at Arlington

FTW ASHRAE has been sponsoring a student branch at UTA for many years, and Senior engineering students have been participants in the Society sponsored design competitions. This year will be no exception, chapter member Nick Schroeder will help Chairman Matt Carter with mentoring the UTA students this year.

Texas Christian University

Our goal for this year is to charter a student branch at TCU. The engineering program at TCU is entering it’s 15th year and it is high-time we developed a lasting presence on the campus.
Chapter members and Horned Frog alumni Claire Boeking, Brandon Jarrett, and Fraser Ringel will help Chairman Matt Carter with starting and mentoring our new branch.

Tarrant County College

In years past the Fort Worth chapter has supported students from our local community college in their pursuit of opportunities within our industry. We aim to re-institute that tradition with an outreach program to our local community college.

Monthly ASHRAE Journal

The official monthly publication of the Society explores issues such as indoor air quality, energy management, solar developments, and more.

ASHRAE Insights

ASHRAE’s monthly newspaper, ASHRAE Insights, is devoted exclusively to news and information about the Society at every level including news of special interest to students. Students are encouraged to submit articles and pictures of current student branch activities, award presentations, etc.

The HVAC&R Industry eNewsletter

The HVAC&R Industry eNewsletter is produced in HTML format and issued on a weekly basis. Best of all, it’s free to both ASHRAE members and non-members. Visit the HVAC&R Industry eNewsletter page to find out more about this benefit.

Publication Discounts

Student members qualify for considerable discounts on many ASHRAE publications including the Handbook Series.

16-40-40 Program

ASHRAE student members can continue receiving the many member benefits of ASHRAE after finishing college through the 16-40-40 program. The first year out of college annual membership is still only $16. Then it is only $40 for the second year and $40 for the third year.
